Bio

Tracey CapesTracey Capes has been passionate about the visual arts her entire life. For over 30 years she has been providing art advisory and appraisal assistance to departments of government, corporate and small business clients, public institutions, and private collections through her advisory firm Tracey Capes Fine Art.

Tracey took courses and joined the International Society of Appraisers earning Accredited Member status. She joined the Canadian Professional Appraisers as an Accredited Member and remains current and compliant in the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practise (USPAP) of the Appraisal Foundation.

Prior to setting up her own business Tracey held positions as Executive Director of the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition, Archivist and Sales Director for Open Studio, and Artistic Director for Arts Etobicoke. She is a graduate of the University of Toronto where she completed a double major in Fine Art History and Fine Art Studio. She continues to study and take courses to improve her knowledge and is a recipient of the Decorative Arts Trust Scholarship.

Her experience includes collections management, policy writing, and curating numerous art exhibitions. Tracey has orchestrated commissions for companies including Canada Goose, Etobicoke Hydro, and VIA Rail. She has organized multiple visual art juries and acted as a juror on a number of occasions. Tracey has also assisted with special event planning for organizations like the Toronto International Art Fair, Partners-in-Art, and Art Gallery of Ontario.
